Lack of sleep can affect the effect of vaccinations. In general, sleep problems can damage the immune system. This was stated by the head of the Department of Sleep Medicine of the First Moscow State Medical University “Sechenov”, somnologist Mikhail Poluektov.
“Sleep deprivation reduces the effect of vaccination. At least, this has already been proven in vaccination against influenza and hepatitis A, “he said.
According to Poluektov, there are many studies that prove that lack of sleep significantly increases the risk of infection.
“This means that there is a direct link between sleep and immunity. During sleep, the immune system is strengthened and restored. In particular, it affects certain indicators of immunity: for example, when sleep time is limited, the production of T-lymphocytes, which is involved in the process of cellular immunity, is disrupted, “he added.
