The relevant statement was issued by the Lithuanian government. However, the trend itself is encouraging for Ukrainian tourists – it is possible that by the summer the Baltic countries will be fully open.
“Tourists from the European Union and the European Economic Area will only need to prove that they have been vaccinated against Covid-19. Documents confirming that the traveler recovered from Covid-19 or gave a negative result will also be accepted, “officials said.
The decision followed a recent recommendation by the World Health Organization to lift or ease travel restrictions, as such measures could cause economic and social harm. Not surprisingly, before the pandemic, the tourism sector was a significant part of the local economy, investing more than 977 million euros annually. In 2019, the country was visited by almost two million tourists.
Among other measures, Lithuanian officials said they no longer needed to present a national certificate (or other document related to Covid-19) to access enclosed public places, including tourist facilities, restaurants, museums, sports venues or cultural events. Only individual safety measures are applied, such as wearing masks or respirators indoors and keeping your distance.
