A viral video warning tourists not to use glasses in hotel rooms and never to put a toothbrush on the edge of the sink was published on the TikTok platform by flight attendant-blogger Lauren Lois. The flight attendant shared her tricks that can be useful to Ukrainian travelers.
One of her most important tips is to never drink from the glasses offered to tourists in hotel rooms. Most of the guests are happy to drink free tea/coffee or water from cups or glasses, but this should be done on the condition that they are clean, the author of the video said. According to her, these are precautionary measures to avoid getting sick while abroad.
Multiple undercover investigations have shown that hotel glasses are not as clean as we think. So, one of the employees of the emergency service discovered that the glasses were rarely changed during the collection of hotel rooms. And another expert, Doctor of Medical Sciences Adrian Heisler, noted the following: “I would not use glasses in the room. You can call the front desk and ask for clean cups to be brought to your room or go to the bar to get your own.”
In addition, the flight attendant showed another hygienic use of paper cups that can be found in hotel rooms. She cut a hole in the lid and inserted her toothbrush into the slot to make a kind of holder. The girl explained that this protection prevents the bristles of the toothbrush from touching the surface of the sink.
Another well-known advice blogger, flight attendant Kat Kamalani from the US, shared her recommendations for hotel security. The flight attendant said that before she starts unpacking at the hotel and lies down to rest, she always checks the room to make sure it is clean and safe.
“Never say your room number out loud in case someone is around and you don’t want criminals to know where you are staying. Check if someone is in your room: look behind the curtains, look under the bed,” advised the flight attendant.
