Tourists from China went on a honeymoon and accidentally found a hidden camera in a room they rented on Airbnb, Gutzy reports.
According to the publication, the couple decided to spend their honeymoon in the city of Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia. The Chinese woman admitted that she asked her husband to check the room for hidden cameras and one of these devices was found in the socket opposite the bed.
“My friends didn’t even recognize it as a camera when they saw the photographs. Perhaps men are more familiar with digital devices, so they immediately realized that it was a camera,” the tourist explained.
The publication clarifies that attempts to contact the agent through whom the travelers rented the accommodation were unsuccessful. The couple reported the discovery to the police station, left a complaint on the booking platform, and moved to another hotel.
However, when law enforcement officials themselves contacted the agent, he accused the tourists of trying to evade payment. When the newlyweds returned to China and received a refund from Airbnb, the woman posted a message on social media to remind followers of the importance of vigilance when traveling.
