The mass poisoning incident took place at a luxury hotel in Antalya. According to The Mirror, more than two dozen people were injured.
The media write that more than 10 families have become victims of food poisoning in a five-star resort in Kemer.
“One of the guests is in the hospital. The total number of poisoned tourists is about 25 people. Most of them are British citizens,” the tabloid writes.
“My family is on vacation at Rixos Sungate: three out of five are sick, and one is hospitalized. The staff denies the fault and does not help us. At the same time, other guests also complained of feeling unwell. The mother of two children is currently unwell, while their father is in hospital with another child.
She appealed to the staff for help, but to no avail. Terrible customer service,” Kate Dowling, the sister of one of the victims, tweeted.
The Briton clarified that the all-inclusive holiday cost them 4,000 pounds. According to TripAdvisor, the hotel on the south coast of Turkey has a rating of 4.5 out of five stars.
The resort features 13 bars and restaurants, including a world-class buffet and a sushi bar.
“We are concerned about the poisoning at Rixos Sungate. Our employees offer all the necessary support to the victims,” a representative of the German travel company TUI, through which the holiday was booked, commented on the situation.
According to him, they are investigating the situation in close cooperation with the hotel.
“We would like to assure all customers that we regularly check all our hotels in terms of health and safety, including hygiene,” added the TUI employee.
The publication adds that the owner of Rixos Hotels Accor was contacted for comment on the situation.
