The abolition of “entry” tests in Britain and a significant reduction in “antique” measures have changed the rules of the game: now British and Turkish tour operators one after another give optimistic forecasts for a return to pre-pandemic volumes. What does it mean for Ukrainian tourists to increase the number of British tourists in their favorite resorts – especially in Turkey – and serious competitive “fights” for a place under the sun.
It will be recalled that the United Kingdom has officially started removing “anti-antiquity” measures – details can be read at the link – in particular, the government has abolished the requirement for testing when tourists return to the country. From February 11, vaccinated passengers will not have to pass any tests to enter the UK. “Tests at the border should be a thing of the past,” they said.
As a result, the number of tour bookings went up sharply. Most of the major representatives of the tourism market – in particular, EasyJet, TUI and Jet2 have already announced that this summer the number of incoming reservations may reach the level of 2019. Tour operator TUI called the decision of the British government “progress in returning travel to normal life.” “The number of bookings has grown. But under such conditions, the summer season of 2022 may return to pre-pandemic levels, “added the tour operator’s experts. easyJet forecasts a “strong summer” with the number of flights close to 2019. Steve Hippie, CEO of Jet2, also said the abolition of tests “changed the rules of the game” for the tourism industry, and said they expected the already high orders – especially Turkey – to grow even more.
What can this threaten the Ukrainian tourist? It will be recalled that even before the lifting of the ban, the British and German markets had big plans for Turkey.
