136 pairs of children’s socks were hung in front of the Russian embassy in Berlin

That’s how many Ukrainian children were killed by Russians during the month of the war in Ukraine.

For the second week in a row, the March of Ukrainian Mothers “Save children of Ukraine” is held in major cities of Europe and America. Women who had been forced to flee the war again came out to talk about the suffering and death of Ukrainian children, Russia’s war crimes, and once again begged to close the skies over Ukraine.

In Berlin, the action took place in front of the Russian embassy, where Ukrainian women organized a performance in memory of the children who died during the Russian aggression in Ukraine. The ribbon with 136 children’s socks hung on it symbolized 136 children’s lives that ended in just one month of the war. The women sang lullabies and mournful Ukrainian songs and shared their stories. After the performance, the mothers marched to the Brandenburg Gate, where they joined a general demonstration organized by the Viche.

This week, the March of Ukrainian Mothers also took place in New York, Atlanta, Berlin, Munich, Brussels, Budapest, Nicosia and Sulzmat.

In Budapest, on the banks of the Danube, the organizers of the March laid out 300 pairs of worn shoes in memory of at least 300 people killed in an air strike on the Drama Theater in Mariupol.

“Despite the very difficult political situation in Hungary, I would like to remind you that politicians and their priorities are not about humanity and they always do what is more profitable. In all countries, – shares Dasha Malakhova – the organizer of the March of Ukrainian mothers. – Many countries support Ukraine and it is very beautiful. Budapest is not flattered, the country’s leadership openly supports the old and profitable maniac friend, but… Hungarian people and the country help Ukrainians a lot. People with big hearts live here, my children speak Hungarian and I don’t care what happens in this country! ”

In Atlanta, as part of the March of Ukrainian Mothers, 136 candles were lit – according to the number of children killed, laid out on the asphalt in the word KIDS, reminiscent of the inscription CHILDREN near the Mariupol Theater. Mothers held printed photographs of murdered children describing each death story. A minute of silence was observed in all those killed in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian mothers’ march in New York this week drew twice as many people. Ukrainian women with dolls in bloody sheets on their hands and posters with CLOSE THE SKY slogans walked from the UNICEF office to Times Square.

In Munich, at the Königsplatz, the March gathered many Ukrainian and German women who were filled not only with pain, sorrow and tears of grief – they had the courage and strength to tell the world about everything that everyone really had to go through. Words of support and sympathy for the Ukrainian people, slogans about imposing additional sanctions on Russia and calls for peace were heard from the stage. The event was attended by representatives of the German government, the Consul of Ukraine in Germany, as well as representatives of other countries that support Ukraine and help it in this military confrontation.

The Mothers’ March was part of a large rally in the Cypriot capital Nicosia under the Russian Embassy. The rally was organized jointly by Cypriots and Ukrainians against the war and the killing of civilians, including children. It gathered about 300 people of different nationalities. Representatives of the Ukrainian Diaspora in Cyprus, immigrants, Cypriot organizers and several members of the Cypriot Parliament spoke. They made a speech in support of Ukraine, fully condemned Russia’s war against Ukraine, expressed condolences and mourning for Mariupol, for children, for innocent victims.

Next week, the March of Ukrainian Mothers will take place on April 2, the day before the elections in Budapest. Start at 11.00 near the UNICEF office.
