“The European Union must now impose sanctions against Russia to prove that it can back up words with deeds,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Monday in Brussels.
– There are many decisions that the EU can take now, sending clear signals to Russia that escalation is unacceptable and Ukraine will not be left to its own devices. We are talking not only about political signals, but also quite specific actions, – Kuleba said before the start of the meeting of EU foreign ministers, to which he was invited.
According to the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, the EU should support the defense sector of his country, help in the field of cybersecurity and impose some sanctions now.
“Words must be backed up by deeds”
– This is the message that I want to convey to my colleagues from the EU: we believe that there are legitimate grounds for imposing some sanctions now, in order to demonstrate that the EU is not only talking about sanctions, but is also able to back up words with actions – Kuleba objected.
Russia has concentrated up to 190,000 people near the borders of Ukraine. its troops and, according to Western intelligence services, an attack on this country could occur at any moment.
