The European Union has taken precautionary measures in the event of a cessation of Russian gas supplies to Europe, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in Strasbourg.
According to the DPA, in order to minimize the risk of disruptions in the supply of natural gas, the EC has in recent months held talks with key importers of liquefied natural gas, such as the United States, Qatar and Egypt, to increase their supplies.
Large importers of liquefied natural gas, including Japan and South Korea, were also consulted on providing the EU with raw materials from its own reserves. As a result of these efforts in Brussels, the EU allocated a record 10 trillion in January. cubic meters of liquefied gas, said von der Layen.
