An international conference entitled “The Gravity of the European Union and the Transformation of the Region” will be held today in Batumi. This year’s forum was dedicated to the cooperation of three EU associate partners – Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, which were recently officially registered as an associate trio.
The conference will be attended by Moldovan President Maya Sandu, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and European Council President Charles Michel. Georgia will be represented by President Salome Zurabishvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and other members of the government. Several face-to-face meetings of the first persons are planned on the sidelines of the forum.
The event will be opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani. The first topic is entitled: Three states – one choice: Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in motion. Its speakers: Sandu, Zelensky, Michel and Zurabishvili. In the second group, representatives of well-known think tanks will consider updating the traditional transatlantic dialogue and possible scenarios for its development.
The conference will be held in a mixed format – only the main speakers will be present at the event, and the audience will be able to watch their performances online.
The Batumi International Conference is being held for the 17th time. Over the years, it has established itself as a strategic platform for the integration of common ideas, policies and interests aimed at deepening and strengthening existing relations between the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries.
