The number of coronavirus infections confirmed by the Chinese authorities is growing. Today’s bulletin of the National Health Commission reports 143 confirmed cases on Monday against 125 reports on Sunday. According to the agency, 108 cases of “local transmission”, 50 of which were found in Jiangsu Province, where a new outbreak allegedly began. The remaining 35 are “brought cases”.
Authorities also reported 38 other infections associated with asymptomatic patients that were not included in the confirmed cases.
The South China Morning Post notes that today’s bulletin of confirmed infections is the highest level since July 20, when the number of infected began to rise again, which, according to authorities, is related to the Delta option, and the Guardian notes that since January 20 China has never reported so many confirmed cases.
