Chinese authorities have quarantined another major city after several cases of coronavirus infection were found there, according to the DPA.
Beijing continues to pursue a “zero COVID” policy by imposing tough restrictive measures.
Residents of Baisha, a city of 3.6 million people in southwest China, have been told not to leave their homes after more than 100 cases of coronavirus were detected there over the weekend, local media reported.
Many transport links to and from the city were also cut off.
In recent months, similar measures have been introduced in other major cities such as Xi’an and Anyang.
Thus, China has largely managed to contain the spread of infection during the pandemic. Outbreaks of coronavirus were registered in several cities, but they were localized.
