Two “bicycle centers” have been set up in Brussels to meet cyclists and visitors wishing to discover the capital on two wheels, the Brussels Tourist Board said last week.
These cycling centers are located in the Grand Hospice in the city center and on the See U in Ixelles. “A good way to identify two unique places where everyone who travels, circulates or visits the capital by bike, will find services, amenities and activities around bicycles,” – said the travel agency. “We want to promote cycling and cycling as an active way to discover Brussels.”
The goal is to attract tourists who want to travel by bicycle. At these centers, they will be able to rent or repair their bicycles, get information on available routes, find accommodation suitable for bicycles, or even activities related to the promotion of bicycles, explains Patrick Bontink, CEO of the Brussels Tourist Board.
“We want to increase the attractiveness of Brussels as a place for bicycles at the local, national and international levels,” added Brussels Prime Minister Rudy Vervoort. “The cycling center will be able to strengthen existing cycling initiatives and satisfy visitors by offering them a turnkey experience,” he concludes. With the help of cycling tourism, the city also hopes to attract more visitors.
