At the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine, a number of mosques in Ukraine honored the memory of the victims of March 31 – the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis.
Commemorative events in Ukrainian mosques began with the reading of verses from the Holy Koran and prayers. “It is desirable that our Muslim brothers live in peace and tranquility throughout the world.”
Then a memorable event took place at the embassy on March 31 – the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis. In the west, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the victims of the genocide. Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Elmira Akhundova analyzed the events from a historical point of view.
She noted that the events should be thoroughly investigated to prevent a recurrence of genocide against Azerbaijanis. After the restoration of Azerbaijan’s independence, it became possible to better study the historical past of our people, the truths that have been hidden for many years are gradually being revealed, and the distorted events are becoming clearer. Such genocides, which are committed against our people from time to time and have never received their historical value.
