The world’s safest cities to visit in 2024 have been named – and they’re incredible

No matter how attractive this or that city in the world may seem, tourists should never compromise on safety.

A new survey by Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection has identified the world’s safest cities to visit in 2024, based primarily on overall safety, crime, and natural disaster risk. These cities offer tourists incredible sights and experiences with the highest level of security, writes Travel Off Path.

Honolulu, the capital city of the American state of Hawaii, topped the rating – an exotic vacation spot with white beaches and dense forests that attracts travelers from all over the world. This city is currently considered the safest city in the world due to its low crime rate.

Experts say that Honolulu’s strict gun laws and high standard of living contribute to a low crime rate and that the biggest threats to tourist safety here are fish bites and the ocean itself.

However, despite this, tourists are urged to remain vigilant. Experts emphasize that it is completely unwise to go hiking alone or swim in the ocean at night. At the same time, guests are advised to always ask residents for advice before venturing into unexplored territory.

The second line in the ranking was taken by Montreal – one of the largest cities in Canada, where tourists can enjoy restaurants, beaches, and vibrant nightlife, as well as French-style architecture.

Montreal is currently considered the second safest city in the world with a low crime severity index, where solo tourists will feel especially safe.

However, despite the low level of violence, petty theft does occur in Montreal, so tourists are advised to keep their personal belongings close at hand. There is also the risk of natural disasters, including winter ice storms and earthquakes.

The third place in the rating was taken by the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik – it is so safe here that the country does not have an army, and the police patrol the streets without weapons.

The biggest threat in Iceland is natural disasters. For example, November and December 2023 saw a surge in seismic and volcanic activity in and around Reykjavík.
