Not birds, but gangsters: “uninvited guests” in Australia trashed a hotel room

A traveler in Australia showed her hotel room after a cockatoo attack: the bird made a mess in the room, and the video went viral on TikTok, reports Newsweek.

The author of the post claims that the incident took place at the Reef View Hotel on Hamilton Island, at the “crime scene” you can see scattered clothes, food and waste.

“Don’t leave windows and doors open in Hamilton because cockatoos will climb in and eat your food,” she captioned the posted clip.

In two days, the publication gained over 2.7 million views and about 2,000 comments.

“I feel sorry for the person who has to clean it. I hope that you not only get the money, but also leave a huge tip”, “Even without the birds … Why do you leave the doors open in the hotel?”, “How can a bird do so much harm?

The publication adds that 14 species of cockatoo can be found in Australia. They come from a “family of large, long-lived and very noisy parrots with moveable combs”.

It has not been definitively established who “had a mischief” in the hotel room, but the most common cockatoo in Australia is the gala.

“Gals form huge noisy flocks that sleep together. The funny antics of these iconic Australian cockatoos have led to their name being applied to anyone who acts stupid.

Sometimes the birds seem to be just having fun, like taking turns gliding over a cable or wires,” the Nature Conservancy of Australia, a non-profit organization, said in a news release.

Cockatoos are also known for their “socially learned garbage can raiding behavior,” according to a study published in the journal Current Biology.

How did the story end in Australia? The author of the video turned to the commentators, who accused the girls of carelessness, and told who cleaned the number.

“I answer to everyone who makes hasty conclusions (mostly Americans) we asked the staff for supplies to use and removed everything we could. We are grateful to the cleaners who did an amazing job. And mistakes happen, and you all need to calm down,” the blogger summed up.
