In Australia, a girl fell from a 50-meter-high cliff while trying to take a selfie, ABCnews reports.
The incident occurred at Cape Woolamai on Phillip Island. According to police, the 22-year-old tourist was taken to hospital by air ambulance. The girl was with friends who managed to climb down the cliff and call emergency services.
Bass Coast Police Inspector Dave Fyfe said the woman’s injuries were not life-threatening but had multiple serious fractures.
“She went off the walking path and unfortunately fell off the cliff,” he said.
The Inspector notes that this incident can be considered a timely reminder to people, especially tourists, to be careful while outdoors. Authorities are urging people to be more careful and stick to pedestrian routes.
“The fact is that in physics there is no clause about selfies, and gravity is a one-way path,” he concluded.
Cape Woolamai is known throughout the world for its waves and cliffs, attracting surfers from all over the world to compete.
