The Taliban has announced an amnesty for Afghan officials

Члени талібів увійшли в столицю Афганістану Кабул 15 серпня, не зустрівши опору, і взяли під свій контроль усе місто.

The Taliban has announced a general amnesty for former Afghan government officials, France-Presse reported on Tuesday, citing a Taliban statement.

“A general amnesty has been announced for everyone <…>, so you should have no doubts about resuming your normal activities,” the statement said.

Members of the Taliban entered the Afghan capital, Kabul, on August 15 without encountering resistance, and took control of the entire city. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has left the country. Western countries are evacuating their citizens and diplomatic staff from Afghanistan.

Taking control of Kabul University and the Ministry of Education building, the Taliban announced that women would have the opportunity to study and work, but most schools and colleges in Kabul remained closed on Monday. In addition, the Taliban said they were not going to take revenge on former government officials and law enforcement officers.
