The rating of foreign passports was released: Ukraine left Russia far behind

The results of the “passport power” study for the third quarter of 2022 were announced by the London-based global citizenship and residence consulting company Henley & Partners. In the rating of foreign passports, Japan took first place again. Ukraine ended up in 35th place, overtaking Russia in one place.

A recent report showed that Japan remained the leader in the rating. This means that Japanese passport holders have the right to travel to a total of 193 destinations without visas. Singapore and South Korea are in second place – their visa-free travel limit is 192 countries. The third place was shared by two European countries – Germany and Italy. Holders of these passports can travel to a total of 190 countries around the world without the need to first apply for a visa.

Ukraine rose to 35th place (144 countries) in the passport index rating. At the same time, citizens of China can freely cross the borders of 80 countries, and citizens of Belarus – 78. The rating of passports has traditionally been closed by hotspots: Somalia (35), Pakistan (32), Syria (30), Iraq (29), and Afghanistan. Only 27 countries of the world are ready to accept residents of the latter without a visa.

As for Russia, it is in the top half of the list at 50th place, between Palau, an island nation in the Philippine Sea, and Bosnia and Herzegovina/Micronesia.
