The Ministry of Tourism of Sri Lanka has decided to issue longer-term visas to tourists.
So, soon foreign visitors will be able to obtain Sri Lankan visas for up to 180 days instead of the current 30 days. At the same time, holders of multiple entry visas will be able to stay on the island for one year instead of 90 days.
Sri Lanka is currently experiencing its worst economic crisis since 1948. The coronavirus pandemic has dealt a blow to the tourism sector, which was the main source of foreign exchange on the island. As a result, the country cannot purchase enough fuel.
In Sri Lanka, there is a shortage of electricity, food, necessities, medicines, and gas.
