The authorities of Sri Lanka are planning to make free visas for tourists on arrival in order to increase the flow of tourists to the country. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Tourism of the island Diana Gamazh.
According to her, there are a number of countries (for example, Singapore or the Maldives), which are smaller than Sri Lanka in area, but attract more tourists, including due to a loyal visa policy.
As Gamaj stated, “I think it’s better to forget about the $50 visa fee per passenger and attract tourists who spend about $1,000 a day.”
In addition, the Sri Lankan authorities are discussing the launch of a tourist pass, which will allow you to visit all the main attractions. The possibility of introducing “golden visas” is also being worked out, but the mechanism for their work has not yet been determined.
