South Korea plans to introduce new types of visas and improve the current K-ETA system in 2023.
Tourists need to obtain a K-ETA Electronic Travel Authorization, valid for two years, to enter South Korea. It allows you to enter the country during the entire period of validity repeatedly. You can enter without a visa, issuing only K-ETA, for business and tourism purposes, for a private visit, or for short-term treatment. They want to improve this system so that the registration process takes less time.
In 2023, the authorities want to introduce two new types of visas. So, there will be a Workcation visa – a visa for “digital nomads”, which is planned to be introduced in the second half of next year. The second type is the K-culture visa, which will be issued to those who want to study Korean culture. Such a visa is primarily aimed at young people from abroad.
What documents will be required for issuing new visas and for how long they will be issued has not yet been reported.
Also, the Korean authorities plan to increase the number of vacancies for foreigners in the hotel and tourism business, to allow students to work up to 30 hours a week instead of the current 15.
