France stopped extending visas to Russians

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe has refused to meet Russian tourists: on February 6, France will stop extending visas to Russians whose validity period has expired during the coronavirus pandemic. Specialists of the French visa center told Fontantsi about this.

Now Russians, who previously had French visas in their hands, must register on general grounds because, from Monday, the possibility of registering documents under the “extension” category will be canceled for citizens of the Russian Federation. The publication recalled that earlier for almost a year, the visa centers of France left Russians with the opportunity to apply for the renewal of 2- and 5-year multiple short-term visas issued or expired during the Covid-19 period.

Let’s list the types of French Schengen visa for short-term stay, which allow citizens of 3 countries to enter France and stay there for a period of up to 90 days:

  1. French transit visa. Allows you to land at one of the airports in France to board a flight that will take the tourist to a country that is not part of the Schengen area.
  2. French tourist visa. Suitable for relaxing or studying and getting to know the sights.
  3. French visa for visiting family or friends. To visit friends or family members living in this country.

  5. Visa to France for an official visit. For business tourists as part of an official foreign delegation invited to France on an official visit.
  6. Visa to France. They needed treatment in a hospital located in France.
  7. French visa. It will fit if the course of study is up to three months in an educational institution in the country.
  8. Visa to France for cultural, sports, and film groups. It will be useful for attending events in France related to sports or culture.
