Egyptian authorities plan to introduce a five-year tourist visa for citizens of 180 countries to stimulate the development of tourism, Interfax reports citing the Egyptian Streets newspaper.
“To stimulate the development of tourism, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities plans to issue multiple-entry tourist visas for citizens of 180 countries. The visa is expected to be valid for five years and cost $700.
As the newspaper notes, if tourists have a valid visa, they can still get a five-year tourist visa at the airports in Egypt.
The authorities expect to attract more tourists to Egypt from China, India, and Turkey, they will be able to obtain entry visas in Egyptian ports, even if they arrive as independent travelers. The republic is also interested in tourists from the USA, Great Britain, and the countries of the Schengen agreement.
Now a single entry visa to Egypt can be obtained online for $25, it allows you to stay in the country for up to 30 days. The cost of a 90-day multiple-entry visa is $60, the maximum stay is also limited to a month.
The new measure of the authorities is aimed at attracting tourists from all over the world to Egypt. It is planned to increase the number of tourists by 30% annually, and by 2028 the tourist flow to the republic should reach 30 million people.
Earlier in March, Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa said that 11.7 million tourists visited the country in 2022.
