Philip Miller, owner of the Sealife Aquarium in Southend-on-Sea, east England, said he may have to euthanize the animals because he can’t keep them due to record high electricity prices.
The oceanarium’s bills have tripled, from £240,000 to £750,000, he said. And keeping animals requires maintaining constant temperatures.
Miller clarified that he would either have to put the inhabitants to sleep or look for other homes for them. “But all the other zoos will also be in the same boat with me,” he said.
