Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), urged all tourism workers to “think and rethink why we do this.” This is how he announced the celebrations on the occasion of World Tourism Day 2022 — and the new theme of this holiday.
This time it will be “Rethinking Tourism”. The international day of celebration on September 27 – “this year will focus on rethinking the growth of the sector, both in terms of size and relevance,” the organization said. At the same time, Indonesia will host the holiday.
“The potential of tourism is huge, and we have a joint responsibility to fully realize it. On World Tourism Day 2022, UNWTO calls on everyone, from tourism workers to tourists themselves, as well as small businesses, large corporations and governments, to think and rethink what we do and how we do it,” said the UNWTO Secretary-General.
