The UN World Tourism Organization has announced that Egypt has won the Best Promotional Video in the Middle East category in the category of Exceptional Sustainable Tourism Stories. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities released a video this year to showcase the tourism potential and components that Egypt has and how the tourism sector is developing its 2030 Sustainable Development Plan.
In November, UNWTO announced the 2021 UNWTO Tourism Video Competition, which was attended by several countries from around the world, on the theme “Travel Video”, ahead of the 24th UNWTO General Assembly, which was held in the Spanish capital, Madrid, from November 30 to December 3rd.
All submitted works were reviewed by an independent jury consisting of representatives of the international media gathered in Madrid for the UNWTO General Assembly.
In the category “Exceptional Stories of Sustainable Tourism”, participants were invited to submit remarkable examples that demonstrate the human face of tourism and illustrate the positive social impact that this sector can have in creating opportunities for all.
The 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda aims to strengthen Egypt’s leadership as a large, modern and sustainable tourism destination that strengthens the country’s national economy.
With rich and varied natural and archaeological resources and components, Egypt is well prepared to receive tourists from around the world.
Due to the pandemic in 2020, Egypt’s tourism sector lost up to $ 7.7 billion. As the backbone of Egypt’s economy, this industry provides a large percentage of the country’s GDP and employs more than three million Egyptians.
Over the past year, the travel industry has been hit hard by the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Several countries have closed their borders and banned travel to contain the spread of the disease.
