A spokeswoman for the British government commented on Liverpool’s exclusion from UNESCO

Regarding the exclusion of Liverpool from the UNESCO World Heritage List, the United Kingdom says it is “extremely disappointed.”

On Wednesday, Britain expressed serious disappointment after the UN agency for culture, UNESCO, voted to remove Liverpool from its list of World Heritage Sites due to overdevelopment.

“We are extremely disappointed with this decision and believe that Liverpool still deserves its World Heritage status, given the important role that historical docks and the city as a whole have played throughout history,” said a spokeswoman for the British government.
