Even before the pandemic, the organizers of EXPO 2020 expected 25 million visits, so we can say that the goal was almost reached. In the past few days, kilometer-long queues have formed at the pavilions. The exhibition ended with a ceremony with the participation of world stars and colorful fireworks.
According to the organizers, the exhibition was visited by guests from 178 countries, while a third of all visits came from foreigners. The pavilions of India, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Great Britain, Russia, France and the USA became the most popular.
49% of visits were repeat visits, and 70% entered the exhibition using a season pass. 22% of visitors used a one-day ticket, and 8% used a multi-day ticket. 18% of all visitors were children, 3% were elderly people, with the oldest being 98 years old. In addition, 107 thousand visits were made by people with special needs, the exhibition was visited online more than 200 million times.
As previously reported, the EXPO-2020 site will now turn into a residential area, in which the main vehicle will be a bicycle. Thus, District 2020 will be the first 15-minute city in the United Arab Emirates.
It will be possible to walk or cycle around it within 15 minutes, since all the facilities for life, work and recreation will be located in close proximity to each other, and most of the infrastructure will be designed to support a healthy lifestyle.
The site will feature intelligent mobility solutions for vehicles that will enable people to travel safely and conveniently from home to office and back. These include a dedicated route for autonomous vehicles, a 10-kilometer bike path, connected wide walkways, and a 5-kilometer treadmill.
