The opening ceremony of the United Arab Emirates embassy took place in Tel Aviv on Wednesday.
The ceremony was attended by Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog.
The red ribbon was cut by President Duke and UAE Ambassador to Israel Mohammed Mahmoud Al-Hajja at the entrance to the embassy.
“The embassy is not only a residence for diplomats, but also a platform for strengthening relations, partnership and dialogue,” the ambassador said.
The President of Israel noted that in the past to see the UAE flag in Tel Aviv seemed a distant dream, but today it has become a reality.
The Duke expressed confidence that the opening of the embassy would be an important step not only for relations between Israel and the UAE, but also for the entire Middle East.
The Israeli embassy in Abu Dhabi opened on June 29.
The UAE and Israel signed an agreement on the normalization of relations at a ceremony held at the White House on September 15, 2020.
Palestine has criticized the UAE’s decision to normalize relations with Israel amid no progress in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
