Many people know that the UAE is an original Arab country, so many questions arise about how to behave there, dress, and what prohibitions apply to tourists. In this regard, staying in the state has acquired many myths. About them – in the material “DIP“.
You need to dress modestly
Many tourists are sure that when visiting public places, women should not wear short skirts, shorts, and dresses, as well as open their arms and shoulders. It is not. If you are relaxing in the popular tourist emirates, you can safely walk in shorts and tops with bare shoulders, you can wear a bikini to the beach. However, when visiting mosques, it is best to wear closed clothing so that your ankles and wrists are not exposed, and also that the clothing is not tight. The Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, for example, gives out special clothes for visiting.
Can’t drink alcohol
Indeed, it is forbidden to drink alcohol in public places, you should also not appear on the street in a state of intoxication. However, in Dubai, for example, there are a lot of restaurants, bars, and clubs that sell alcohol. There are also shops with alcohol, but to buy you need to show your passport and fill out a license since alcohol is not sold to people who profess Islam. The only exception can be Sharjah – alcohol is prohibited in this emirate, even though many tourists also rest here, so it is not sold anywhere.
Have nothing to do
Since the UAE is a country that has recently begun to develop, you will not find old cities there with a lot of attractions, as in Europe. However, there are a lot of other entertainments in the Emirates. There are amusement parks, water parks, many excursions, and shopping centers, each of which deserves special attention. In Dubai, for example, you can find the old city, where some ancient buildings have been preserved. There is also a large Arab market where you can not only buy oil perfumes and souvenirs but also eat delicious and inexpensive food.
