Holidays in Dubai are becoming dangerous: at least the British Foreign Office has warned tourists about the threat. Dubai and the UAE in general have been included in a list of countries where the risk of a terrorist attack against British citizens has “increased” due to conflicts in the Middle East. However since terrorist attacks often do not distinguish the citizenship of tourists, it is recommended to always be vigilant to all tourists, including Ukrainians.
As the Express reports, the British Foreign Office recently issued an urgent travel warning for tourists who chose Dubai and the UAE as a whole for their holidays. The warning also applies to 17 other nearby countries. A warning has been issued about the terrorist threat, which has arisen in turn from “military activity” taking place in the Middle East. This applies both to the events in Israel and to the shelling of Yemen on the Red Sea.
“Currently, military operations are being conducted in response to the attempts of Houthi fighters to obstruct the movement of international vessels in the Red Sea. You should continue to monitor travel advisories and follow all relevant instructions from local authorities,” the British Foreign Office wrote.
Its “officials” go on to tell tourists that there is a “high threat of terrorist attacks worldwide affecting the interests of the UK and British nationals, including from groups and individuals who view the UK and British nationals as targets”. Britons are urged to “always remain vigilant”. Since terrorist attacks rarely determine the citizenship of attacked tourists, the same advice can be addressed to other vacationers.
It should be noted that not only the UAE was included in the above-mentioned list. In addition to obviously dangerous countries for tourists – from Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, and Eritrea to Syria and Israel with Palestine, the list also includes popular tourist destinations. Among them are Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and most importantly, Egypt, which is popular with our tourists.
