According to the Associated Press, a fire broke out early Monday morning in a 35-story building in Dubai near the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, the tallest building in the world.
It is not yet known whether there were any casualties during the fire in the residential building, which was extinguished when the agency’s journalist arrived at the scene. Part of the facade of the building is smoky. No information has been released by the police or fire department at this time.

A series of fires in Dubai’s high-rise buildings in recent years has again raised questions about the safety of cladding and other materials used in the country.
On New Year’s Eve 2015, the Address Downtown, one of Dubai’s most luxurious hotels and residential buildings near the Burj Khalifa, went up in flames.
