Visitors to Dubai’s famous Kite Beach risk a 300 AED (US $ 82) fine for riding two-wheeled vehicles – electric scooters and bicycles – on the jogging track and walking promenade.
Corresponding information boards have been installed along the popular beach. The move came after the Dubai Municipality banned the use of electric scooters in city parks. The department noted that the measure was taken to protect the safety of visitors and to avoid accidents.
An experiment is underway to introduce electric scooters into urban environments in five districts in Dubai. Two-wheeled vehicles can be rented using the mobile app. The unlocking cost is 3 dirhams, the rent is 50 fils per minute.
The vehicles can be used by residents and guests of the emirate over the age of 14. Rental locations are located in Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai Internet City, 2nd of December Street, Al Rigga and Jumeirah Lakes Towers. It is also allowed to ride your own scooters in these specially designated areas.
Earlier, the Dubai municipality banned drones from being launched over city parks to protect the privacy of visitors. According to current regulations, anyone with a drone must register it with the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.
Drone owners must take all necessary steps to ensure that no privacy is interfered with and that data that is protected by law is kept confidential.
Photographing and filming the private life of people without their consent, as well as objects, buildings and protected areas without the permission of the relevant organizations is prohibited by law. Violators face a prison sentence and / or a fine.
