Tourists can receive a huge fine and even go to jail for a relatively harmless, albeit unhealthy habit, Turkey, the UAE (Dubai), and India have warned them about this.
The European press has published a warning about the fines that tourists can receive for vaping in these countries. The fact is that in India they are strictly prohibited, and in the UAE and Turkey there are serious restrictions on vaping.
In India, vaping was banned back in 2019 “due to health concerns,” and the legislation is also very strict. Those caught with an electronic cigarette will have to part with about $1,170, and “repeat offenders” face imprisonment.
Dubai initially banned the sale of e-cigarettes in 2009. Although this rule has since been lifted, travelers are urged to still be aware of where they vape. In public places, this carries a fine of about $540. Turkey also has fines for smoking in the wrong place – about $125 per violation.
“It is important for vapers to thoroughly research the vaping laws in their holiday destinations before finalizing their travel plans. The last thing anyone wants is to run into unexpected legal problems while on holiday,” experts warned tourists.
