In Dubai, by the end of 2022, several five-star resorts are expected to open at once. The most long-awaited will be the launch of the mega-hotel Atlantis, The Royal – it will begin to receive guests in the second half of the year. Guests will have access to the infrastructure of the neighboring hotel Atlantis, The Palm.
Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah and Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah are also scheduled to open on The Palm Jumeirah man-made island in autumn 2022, while the Portofino family hotel will begin hosting guests on The World Islands.
Already this week, on July 1, the opening of the new city hotel Anantara Downtown Dubai 5 * will take place – in the building of The Oberoi Dubai hotel. At the end of the year, the Mandarin Oriental Wasl Tower will add to the collection of city hotels.
As previously reported, Dubai’s tourism industry continues its strong recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, with over 6.17 million foreign visitors visiting the emirate between January and May 2022.
Compared to the same period last year, the figures increased by 197%. Dubai hotels maintained an average occupancy rate of 76% during the period, compared to 62% in the first five months of 2021.
Dubai ranked first in the world in terms of hotel occupancy rates, ahead of New York (61%), London (60%), and Paris (57%), according to data from the analytics firm STR.
During the summer, Dubai runs the Stay Longer, Pay Less campaign, with over 60 hotels and resorts offering discounted accommodation. The offer includes staying for seven nights and paying only five nights or staying for five nights and paying only three nights.
