Several Ukrainians’ favorite resorts in Thailand, Egypt, and the UAE made it to the top of the ranking, which names the world’s most overcrowded resorts. The rating was presented by the experts of the company MoneyTransfers.com, which compared the most visited cities and countries of the world with a permanent population in each of them to find out where in the world the number of residents exceeds the number of tourists the most.
And some numbers are truly amazing — for example, Phuket took first place, with 118 tourists per resident. European cities suffering from “over-tourism” lag significantly behind.
It is enough to list the top ten of the rating — and the resorts familiar to Ukrainians will be immediately obvious:
- Phuket, Thailand – 118 tourists for 1 local
- Pattaya, Thailand — 98.7 tourists.
- Krabi, Thailand — 72.2 tourists
- Mugla, Turkey — 40.2 tourists
- Hurghada, Egypt — 28.2 tourists
- Macao, China — 26.9 tourists
- Heraklion, Greece — 22 tourists
- Venice, Italy – 21.3 tourists
- Rhodes, Greece — 20.3 tourists
- Miami, USA – 18.6 tourists.
The extended list includes other popular resorts among our tourists. For example, in Antalya, which is in the second ten, there are 9.2 tourists per resident; in Dubai – 5.3 tourists, and in Jerusalem – 4.9 tourists. But tourists cannot cope with the scale of Cairo – there are 0.3 tourists per resident.
