The Turkish authorities intend to achieve the country’s entry into the top ten largest economies in the world. This was stated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking at the headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Ankara.
“We will not retreat a single step from the goal of our country’s entering the top ten largest economies in the world,” the Turkish leader said in particular.
The head of state also pointed to Turkey’s success in the defense industry.
President Erdogan noted that the products of the Turkish defense industry are also in demand on the international market. In particular, he said that Turkey will supply the Philippines with Turkish-made Atak attack helicopters. According to him, the day before, a Turkish delegation went to the Philippines to transfer combat vehicles.
He noted that the tests brought to the world by the coronavirus pandemic demonstrated the potential and capabilities of Turkey.
“Thanks to the organization of the provision of health services, high performance in the field of employment, production and exports, we have managed to separate our country from the atmosphere of the global crisis. At a time when even developed countries experienced serious difficulties, the fact that Turkey emerged from the crisis even stronger can be called a great success,” Erdogan said.
He added that the pandemic is largely behind us, and all the negative consequences caused by it will be eliminated soon.
The head of state also spoke about the government’s measures to ensure the stability of the country’s financial system. “In the last months of last year, our economy experienced a shock caused by an unjustified increase in the exchange rate. Thanks to the measures taken, by December 20, we again achieved stability in the markets and overcame this difficulty,” he said.
According to him, Turkey’s economy is closely integrated into the world economy, especially in terms of the regional situation. “That is why all events at the global level are of great concern to us,” President Erdogan explained.
He added that the country’s authorities are working to make Turkey one of the centers of the global production system restructured in connection with the pandemic.
Erdogan also talked about the negative consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war for the global economy. According to him, as a result of the conflict, world prices for commodities, energy and food have risen again.
