The pool in the resort town of Algarrobo in Chile is considered to be the largest in the world. Its length is about a kilometer, and the area is more than 8 hectares. It was built in 2006 on the Pacific coast, and a year later it was listed in the Guinness Book of Records.
It is worth noting that this part of the coast has cold water, and sharks are found in the coastal zone. Therefore, biochemist and entrepreneur Fernando Fishman decided to build a large-scale pool to replace the ocean for tourists. Water for the pool is taken directly from the ocean and then goes through the stages of purification and heating.
Even though in some places the pool is very deep, the water in it is so clear that you can see the bottom through its thickness. The unique pool attracts hundreds of tourists.

By the way, if you find yourself in Chile, do not neglect trips around the country. the mandatory points of the program are the Atacama Desert, which is considered the driest place on earth, it has not rained here for centuries, and the city of Valparaiso, which looks like an illustration for a children’s book about the most fabulous places on earth. If you have time and desire, you can go to more remote and less touristy places. For example, the penguins on Magdalena Island, there are a lot of them and they are not at all afraid of people. Another amazing Chilean animal is the mountain viscacha, which looks like a typical human on a typical Monday morning. It is unlikely that you will see her, just know that she exists in this world, and perhaps your Mondays will become a little less gloomy.
