The Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air has decided to close its base in Chisinau from December 1, 2022, so now the company’s planes will not be stationed on the territory of Moldova.
This was reported by Pro TV concerning the press service of the airline.
This decision was made by the management of Wizz Air because of the Russian missiles launched toward Ukraine, which recently flew over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova.
“After a thorough risk assessment and taking into account the risks of closing the airspace in the Republic of Moldova, we have adjusted our winter program for 2022-2023 from Chisinau to ensure its continued execution. To minimize disruption for our Moldovan customers, we will change the operation of most of our flights arriving in Chisinau from bases in other cities of the Wizz Air network from December 1, 2022,” the company’s press release states.
It is reported that until November 30, 2022, Wizz Air will continue to operate flights from Chisinau to Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Great Britain.
From December 1, 2022, Wizz Air will operate flights to Chisinau from Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Great Britain. Flights from Chisinau to Paris Beauvais, Brussels Charleroi, Basel-Mulhouse and Turin will be suspended.
