Airplane passengers often do things that can be considered annoying, experts say. In particular, applause when landing a plane can offend pilots, Express reports.
One of the most common mistakes when traveling, according to etiquette expert Joe Bryant, is the way people applaud after landing. According to a behavior expert, this can be classified as rudeness.
“Applause is not required after landing and is even rude to the pilots. If the landing is successful, the applause implies surprise at the skill. If the landing is unsuccessful, clapping will look offensive,” the expert explained.
By the way, applause for pilots has become more common over the years: passengers applaud the moment the plane lands.
