On-board headphones have been called one of the most dangerous items for passengers. This opinion was shared by a former flight attendant on the Quora forum, DIP reports.
The girl said that the onboard headphones that are given to passengers could be dangerous. Headphones on board an aircraft can harbor a lot of germs and dirt, as dozens of people use them every day. In this case, soft linings are replaced only if they are torn.
“The airlines that provide the earphones hardly or never bother to replace the silicone ear tips. So please always rip them off as soon as you use them, to make sure they replace them,” she writes.
Another option suggested by the flight attendant is to bring your headphones, along with a 2-pin adapter for the aircraft jack.
The same goes for free blankets and pillows, also used hundreds of times by different passengers. According to another flight attendant, blankets and pillows are used over and over again. They are simply folded up and put away for the next flight.
Bringing your own set of pillows and blankets may seem like a hassle, but it’s a small price to pay for not sharing a bed with hundreds of strangers.
