The rating of the “most disliked tourists” by nationality from the point of view of an Egyptian guide was presented by a tourist expert in his blog. The expert also cited the reasons why tourists were included in this rating, as well as compared it with personal impressions.
But first of all, he noted that tourism “brings good income to the state treasury”, so it is not so easy to get Egyptians to have a frank conversation about what annoys tourists and from which countries they “don’t like” tourists. “Their tolerance and good education, which for a long time did not allow a resident to openly talk to me about a very spicy topic for them,” the blogger writes.
The expert gave a rating of three unloved tourists from end to beginning. It looks like this:
In the third place in terms of dislike of Egyptians are “immigrants from neighboring Arab countries such as Algeria, Libya or Tunisia.” Why? “Always very noisy, scandalous, and excessively demanding. They try to get discounts everywhere because they consider themselves neighbors of Egypt and they owe them something here. They behave very capriciously in hotels, they are often rude to the service staff and guests,” the blogger of the Egyptian guide quotes. The main difference from other categories is that they hardly drink alcohol. At the same time, the tourist’s impressions did not match – in his Seagull Resort 4* hotel in Hurghada “there were many guests from neighboring countries with Egypt, I can’t say anything bad about them.”
For example, the Germans took second place. Here, to the strong love of alcohol is added the fact that these tourists, from the point of view of the Egyptians, are “insanely proud and very demanding.” “The guide constantly encounters the rude behavior of German tourists towards others. Often, Germans are very dissatisfied with the service in hotels, picky about the quality of food in restaurants, and unfriendly to the local population. A lot of drunken Germans arrange some showdowns with tourists from other countries,” the blogger said. He added that the guide was frankly annoyed by the “arrogant and insolent behavior of the guests from Germany, who consider themselves almost elite here”, but the tourist himself did not have to meet “insolent Germans” in Hurghada. However, there were “understaffed tourists who speak German” in the hotel, but everyone behaved quite decently.
Unsurprisingly, the first place was taken by the Russians. Despite all the joy from the return of Russian tourists to Egypt, “the behavior of most tourists from Russia causes very negative associations about Russians in general” (ed. which is not surprising), the blogger assures. And in the first place among reasons is the love of Russians for alcohol. Many hotels in Egypt operate under the “all-inclusive” system, which includes alcoholic beverages, and almost without restrictions. This fact is very attractive to Russian tourists, who cannot stop when they get into such an alcoholic paradise,” the blogger assures. He also states that when drunk, Russians do not behave quite adequately. “They riot in hotels, on beaches, and even manage to go on excursions in a cheerful state, which sometimes leads to deplorable consequences.” Moreover, Egyptians are especially shocked by drunken female characters, whom they are particularly unpleasant to see on the streets of resort towns. “In this aspect, I completely agree with the guide, I have encountered drunk Russians more than once, both in the hotel and on the hotel beach,” the blogger adds.
