UNESCO experts reiterate their recommendation to include Venice on the list of endangered World Heritage Sites due to the effects of mass tourism and global warming.
The organization believes that not enough measures have been taken to combat the deterioration of the city.
This recommendation will be considered by UNESCO members in September.
Recall that this is not the first such recommendation regarding Venice. So, in 2021, UNESCO experts already called for changing the status of the city, but this initiative was rejected at a committee meeting with representatives from different countries.
In the same year, Italian scientists from the National System for the Protection of the Environment warned that Venice would face serious problems due to rising sea levels and subsidence.
