In Barcelona (Spain), 140 years later, the two towers of the Sagrada Família, designed by architect Antoni Gaudí, were completed. This is reported on the website of the temple. Thus, the construction of three of the six towers has been completed.
Two new towers are crowned with figures of a lion and a bull, symbolizing the evangelists Luke and Mark. From December 17 to January 8, the buildings will be illuminated in honor of Christmas, and illumination will also be arranged on the tower of the Virgin Mary, which was completed in December 2021.
Recall that the construction of the Sagrada Família has been going on since 1882. Part of the cathedral, built during the life of Antonio Gaudí, is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The temple was expected to be fully completed in 2026, the 100th anniversary of Gaudí’s death, but work has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
