The situation with the tourist season in Turkey has become the object of attention of local media. Despite the increasing number of visiting tourists, their actual costs have decreased. Despite rapidly rising Turkish lira inflation, making Turkey a more accessible destination for European visitors, tourists seem to have become more frugal by choosing all-inclusive and, as local experts note, they have “stopped carrying around a lot of cash.”
European analysts note that many Europeans choose Turkey for their vacation because of its lower costs, but at the same time, tourists themselves complain about the rapid rise in prices in the country.
“The depreciation of the Turkish lira has made the country a relatively inexpensive destination for many foreign visitors. Over the past year, the Turkish lira has fallen by 40% against the euro,” European experts say, quoting their tourists: “It’s hard to eat in Paris for 7-8 euros, while here lunch will cost 3 euros.
However, even this 3 euros seems to cause cost containment among tourists. Many entrepreneurs point out that tourists visiting Turkey are now spending less money as prices in tourist areas rise faster due to inflation. “Usually tourists prefer hotels with an all-inclusive system and take very little money with them,” said, for example, representatives of the British tour operator Jet2.
