Turkish hotels will inevitably raise their prices – local hotel owners stunned tourists with such a statement about the coming summer of 2024. As Kaan Cavaloglu, president of the Mediterranean Tourism Association of Hoteliers and Operators (AKTOB), said in the Turkish press, prices in coastal hotels in Turkey, especially in the Mediterranean region, will inevitably increase in 2024, “although not as much as this year.”
He truly assured that “this should not lead to the loss of their competitiveness”, but taking into account the mentioned price increase, this statement raises doubts.
“As hoteliers, it seems that we will roughly raise prices in 2024 by 15-20% in euros,” he said, adding that this season, with price hikes, hoteliers managed to recover 40% of losses from the rise in the euro.
However, Cavaloglu unequivocally added that he does not expect “an increase in the number of tourists in 2024.” As generators of growth, the Turks declared the markets of the Scandinavian countries, “the strength of the British and Polish markets”, as well as Germany.
