The Turkish national carrier Turkish Airlines has extended the cancellation of many international flights until September 30. According to the official statement of the airline, it is about flights to three Russian cities, as well as Belarus.
At the same time, the Turkish mass media refer to the war in Ukraine, due to which the Ukrainian airspace was closed to civilian flights.
The official statement of Turkish Airlines reads as follows: “Until September 30, 2022 (inclusive), our flights to/from Yekaterinburg, Minsk, Sochi, Ukraine, and Rostov have been canceled.” At the same time, let us remind you that the Rostov airport is already closed. Sochi airport, practically the only one of the southern airports, is working. It is somewhat problematic to explain the stated reasons for the closure of flights to Minsk and Yekaterinburg.
We will remind you that the carrier announced the closure of flights to some Russian airports back in April. That, however, did not prevent the Turkish airline from leading the ranking of foreign carriers flying from Russia by a large margin.
