Turkish media have reported the closure of one of the country’s largest online travel agencies, Tatil.com.
The news came amid reports that the service has formed a large debt to hotels in Kusadasi. In addition, some media outlets reported that the company had laid off all its employees.
“According to some reliable sources, since the beginning of the pandemic, Tatil.com employees, receiving short-term benefits, have worked full time without insurance and were fired by termination of employment contracts,” the Turkish portal Nova Era wrote.
No comments were received from Tatil.com. However, its website continues to operate and it is still possible to choose and pay for accommodation in Turkish hotels.
It is worth noting that the termination of Tatil.com is unlikely to create serious problems for Russians or other foreign tourists. The service is known primarily in the domestic market. It was especially popular after 2018, when the Turkish authorities banned work in the country Booking.com. At that time, the global service did not allow you to choose and book accommodation in Turkey from the territory of Turkey.
In 2020, Booking.com in the country resumed, and this led to a decrease in the turnover of all local booking services.
