According to the NTV channel, the Turkish authorities decided to demolish the city of Nurdagi in the Turkish province of Gaziantep, which was badly damaged by the earthquake.
According to the governor of the region, it is easier to demolish the city than to restore it: “We are removing all the rubble, we are completely demolishing the city — 100%. We found 150 dead under the rubble of the house alone. The city will be rebuilt.”
It is specified that Nurdagi became part of the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century. Before the earthquake on February 6, 2023, at least 40,000 people lived in it.
